Demand for .AI Soars at Domain Retailers Worldwide

While the world has watched demand for the .AI top level domain (TLD) skyrocket due to the global artificial intelligence (AI) boom, there’s been another critical factor at play: domain retailers. 

Domain retailers play an essential role in driving momentum and new business for .AI and the Anguillan government. The more retailers there are, the more .AI products they are selling. Think of the grocery store industry. If you are selling a new food product, you want it in as many grocery stores as possible. Similarly, the more retailers that offer .AI, the more exposure and business the TLD receives, and the greater its potential for growth. 

This is especially true on a global scale — increased interest and participation from retailers opens .AI up to the world, giving Anguilla access to a new global distribution channel. In just the first two weeks since .AI opened to additional domain retailers ahead of the transition of .AI to Identity Digital operations, we have seen a 75% increase in signups to sell the name. “Hundreds of registrars are lining up to sell .AI names,” said Matt Overman, Chief Revenue Officer at Identity Digital. “This is only the beginning of our global distribution of .AI names at the best retailers.”

Since launching our partnership with the Government of Anguilla (GOA) in October 2024, we have seen over 300 inquiries from domain retailers in just one month. It is clear that domain retailers are eager to be part of this fast-growing ecosystem, and we’re witnessing a huge uptick in their engagement with and interest in the .AI TLD.

Our recent webinars about the .AI transition have also been met with substantial interest. They’ve been standing-room-only events, further demonstrating the strong demand among registrars to understand how they can capitalize on the TLD.
